The Baraggia

Wild scenarios for walking outside the ordinary

Baraggia is certainly one of the most impressive environments in the province of Biella, most of which lies within the territory of the Municipality of Candelo. With its 5000 acres of land, this plateau boasts wild scenery unlikely to equal in Italy that resembles African savannah. The ideal frame for a ride out of the ordinary.

Endless landscapes

The vast meadows and moors dotted with sporadic trees, alternating with wooded valleys, are surrounded by a dense network of dirt roads and paths, all easily accessible on foot and well known to horse and mountain bikers. Impressive shady oaks provide shelter from the heat in the summer season.
In the area of Candelo the Baraggia rests on a balcony that falls overhanging the Cervo stream, making the wonderful panoramic excursions.

Baraggia's geological aspects and uniqueness

Geologically unique, this area is the result of the stream erosion of the streams and has a clayey soil, difficult to cultivate. Linen layers alternate with coarse alluvial deposits and yellow sands, from which periodically numerous fossils are brought to light.
